Divorce — The Basics
What is an uncontested divorce?
It's when both spouses agree on the divorce and all terms (custody, property, debts). It's the fastest and cheapest process. In Florida, typically resolved in 30-45 days.
How long does divorce take in Florida?
Uncontested divorce with mutual agreement: 30-45 days. Divorce by summons (when spouse doesn't respond): 60-90 days. Divorce by publication (missing spouse): 90-120 days.
Do I have to go to court?
No. For uncontested divorces in Florida, our attorneys handle the entire process. You don't appear in court.
What documents do I need to start?
Photo ID (license or passport), marriage certificate, basic spouse info (name, address, date of birth). If you have children: their birth dates. If you have property: estimated values.
Can I divorce if my spouse is out of state or country?
Yes. If one of you has lived in Florida at least 6 months, you can file here. If the spouse is out of state, we use service by summons or publication depending on the case.
The Process
What is a Marital Settlement Agreement?
The document where both spouses agree on how to divide property, debts, and (if applicable) custody/support. Required for all uncontested divorces in Florida.
What is a Parenting Plan?
The legal plan detailing custody, parenting time, child support, and major decisions about the children. Required when there are children under 18.
How is child support calculated?
Florida uses a state formula based on combined parental income, parenting time, childcare expenses, and health insurance. We can calculate it for your specific case.
Can I change my last name during divorce?
Yes. In the divorce you can request restoration of your maiden name or any prior name. It's a simple check-box on the documents.
Pricing & Payments

What if I can't afford the court fee?
If your income is below the state threshold (see the table on the home page), you may qualify for waiver. We help you apply.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — within 30 days if you did not receive your divorce documents by email. No refunds for spouse non-response or change of mind.
Immigration
What is VAWA?
VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) lets immigrant survivors of domestic abuse by a US citizen or permanent resident spouse petition for lawful status independently. The law protects both men and women.
What is a T-Visa?
A visa for survivors of severe human trafficking. Grants temporary status, work authorization, and a path to permanent residency after 3 years.
What is a U-Visa?
For victims of qualifying crimes committed in the US who cooperate with law enforcement. Provides temporary status, work authorization, and eligibility for permanent residency after 3 years.
How long does a VAWA/T-Visa/U-Visa petition take?
VAWA: typically 24-36 months. T-Visa: 18-30 months. U-Visa: 5-6 years due to the waiting list. Every case is different.
Can I work while waiting for my immigration case?
Yes. VAWA, T-Visa, and U-Visa all offer work authorization (EAD). We help with that application too.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Is my information confidential?
Absolutely. All communication with our team is protected. VAWA cases have additional federal confidentiality protection.
Do you share my information with third parties?
Never. We do not sell or share your personal information. It's only used to process your case.
Can my spouse see the paperwork?
For divorces: yes, both parties have access to the legal case documents. For VAWA: no — the VAWA petition is confidential by federal law; your spouse is NOT notified.
